What to Expect from Small Wonders In-Home Childcare

Highest Priority For Safety

The main objective of Small Wonders In-Home Childcare is to provide for the health and safety of the children in care. Even before the pandemic we followed a through cleaning and sanitation regime, but with Covid, mask wearing, table shields, air purifiers, UV light sanitation and an outdoor handwashing station as been added. Parents are asked to perform health checks before bringing their children and drop-offs and pick-ups are at the entrance. State and CDC COVID-19 guidelines, recommendations and cleaning procedures are being followed.

Parents Role

My expectations for my clients/parents are to work daily with their children at home and to make sure that they are getting adequate sleep at night so that their learning day can be positive and productive from start to finish. I also expect for you to discuss with me any concerns or issues you may have that affects you or your child immediately. We are a team with a common goal to see your child thrive and succeed.

Step Up To Quality Rated

Step Up To Quality is a five–star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. SUTQ recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality program standards that exceed preschool licensing and school age child care licensing health and safety regulations. Step Up To Quality program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.

Gee Whiz Curriculum

Gee Whiz is a comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for family child care programs. It includes hands-on activities for all ages (infants - school age) and helps me prepare your child for success in school and life. Also included are family newsletters, individualized lesson plans, weekly and monthly review notes, They follow the State of Ohio's Standards to ensure your child is prepared for kindergarten.

Parents Evening Out

Once a year I will offer a free evening/night out for my parents as a show of appreciation, either around Valentines or Christmas. This includes crafts, activities, dinner, a movie, games and lots of fun. Parents can request a Parents Nights Out where they pay for needed childcare at a drop-in rate.

Nutritious Snacks at School

This program participates in the USDA food program and Ohio Healthy Program and all meals/snacks meets the requirements set by both. Meals are home cooked, processed foods and pork products are not served. Allergies can be accommodated in the menu as needed.

Student Screenings & Assessments

Your child's development growth and progress are observed and documented to create individualized learning goals for each child to ensure all age appropriate milestones and learning standards are met.

Flexible Schedule

Convenient and flexible shifts are offered at Small Wonders In-Home Childcare to accommodate a wide range of work and continuing education schedules. Some shifts have limited availability.

Choosing the right daycare for my first born was an important, but stressful decision. From our initial phone conversation and then first meeting, I was put at ease by Ms. Johnson and knew that my son was in great hands while in a loving, clean and safe environment. She has a lot of great advice for first-time Mommies and tons of patience. My son loves coming to her program, which makes it easy for me to be able to go to work without worring.
